Major Con to the Wii:
Absolutely no games come out for it.
I wanted the Wii, and this weekend I found out my mom had a Wii for me for my birthday in a couple weeks, and I told her Id rather her just return it.
When the Wii first came out, I was amazed with the new concept; really loved played those little WiiSports games, but lately it seems as if every game that comes out that I want to play (for example NBA 2k8), doesn't come out for the Wii. I'm pretty frustrated with that. Maybe the next time around for Nintendo, the technology will be there to make better games. As of right now they just seem to be childish.
Also, if you are about graphics, which I for one am not (I would much rather have a fun game, than one that I just sit and marvel at the graphics, but get sick of quickly), than I suggest not getting the Wii. I have played a fair amount of games on the Wii and to me, the graphics don't like a whole lot better than the GameCube.
You serious, seems to me like I'll be okay in the game department. NBA live, Madden, Fifa, Fight Night...all the games I need.
Not to big on graphics but I don't want any noticable flaws. How's the whole action thing...do you really move around for the duration of the game your are playing?

You get as much action moving around as you choose to have.
By that I mean, you can do the exact same thing sitting down and just flicking your wrist, as you can standing up and doing the actual motion.
For instance, you may see in commercials people playing tennis, while standing up and getting all into it, but you don't actually need to do big swings or anything, you can just sit down and gently flick your wrist and get the same effect. That being said, it makes the game a lot more fun when you actually stand up, and get into it. Believe it or not, it's great exercise for some games. Boxing can actually make you pretty tired, lol.

I've made up my mind that I'll be getting one. Though I'm pretty ticked off i wont be able to get the new GTA because of it.
The xbox got some terrible techincal problems that retailers have reported 25-30% being returned and the ps3 is just too expensive....gotta get me a Wii

I think I'm done with PS2...games just arent as good anymore and it's time I get a new system. I'm really considering the Wii based on price and it just seems fun to have a system that interactive. Anyone got the pros and cons of a Wii? is it a good investment?
i've heard great things about the Wii system...i just don't know alot about the games that are out for it
i think if you are about to buy a new system then you have to consider the software that is available for it
here are a couple of links for the Wii and the 360 ( haven't included the PS3 because of price )....scroll down to the middle of these pages where you will find a list of games available...hope this helps a bit

To put it pretty simple, it depends what you enjoy doing. If you get the Wii, you are mostly going to use it for party games (where a group of friends come and play it) or if you like playing little mini-games like mario party but in a different vareity. That is basically all the games they have out right now (except Zelda, which would be good obviously).
If you would rather play a full game that has a story and a point, then you gotta go 360. Also, btw, if your worried about 360 then I wouldn't be anymore, because they have released new 65 nanometer processors that eliminate the problem of running at a high temperature and overheating, so there should not be many problems with your system if you choose to get one.
http://gear.ign.com/articles/824/824183p1.htmlQUOTE
Xbox 360s that make use of the new CPU and motherboard will benefit in a couple of ways. The new 65-nm CPUs will run cooler and more efficiently than the older models, so while there will be no boost in processing performance, less heat will require less cooling and will lead to quieter operation. The new heatsink on the Falcon motherboard abandons the weak X-Clamp that secured the heatsink over the old 360's GPU (and was the cause of the famous three red lights of death) in favor of a burlier four screws that should not warp the PCB. As such, Falcon Xbox 360s should finally be immune to hardware failures that have famously plagued the console.

Well I'm really only into Sports games. Fifa, madden, Fight Night, Knockout Kings, etc. Thus I figured because I don't play too many role play games...the Wii seemed like a good enough option...with that said the 360 looks more and more impressive

If you are planning on buying a 360 soon, then here's another quote from that article that should be helpful:
QUOTE
JWSpeed made his discovery after disassembling a brand new Halo 3 edition Xbox 360, identified by its lot # of 734 and a manufacturing date of 8/24/07. Other users have confirmed that not all Halo 3 edition consoles are built on the Falcon mobo, so prospective buyers in search of a revised console should shop hard to find units manufactured on the same or later date, ideally also of the same lot, 734. Such manufacturing information is printed on the outside of Xbox 360 boxes, so just ask to inspect the box before purchasing.

I need to get some rechargeable batteries for my controller though... at one point I had to put the game on hold so I could run out to Walmart to buy more batteries... it didn't cross my mind to buy rechargeables at the time.

Absolutey true. I've been playing 2k8 for the past week non-stop and still show no sign of being bored of the game whatsoever. With the player movements, the signature jumpshots, the flowing offense, and the amazing crowd, I'll be playing this game for a long time before giving it a rest.
BTW, if anyone has 2k8 for the 360 and wants to play online, give me a shout.

Damn....i had a company come in early this week to put in new windows thru the condo and because of this i've had to rip everything away from the wall in my office...i'm waiting for my girlfriend to put the curtains up again before i move the tv, 360 etc etc back into their spot in the room...hopefully she will be done tomorrow
because of this i obviously haven't been able to go online with the 360 for a few days...i would have enjoyed blowing your brains out from up on top of the hill
it's an amazing game though isn't it - the graphics are not the best compared to other second gen games out now but the actual gameplay is incredible...when you get 2 full teams it's fast and furious and highly addictive
it has some great maps to play in...Backstab is probably the most popular ...one of my favs is Hidden - i love to take a boat over to the other island and set up on the hill that faces down over the helicopter pad...i zoom in with my sniper rifle and pick guys off as soon as they sit down inside the copter...it's freakin hilarious watching them flop around like rag dolls after being shot...i think my record is about 14 in a row ( big pile of bodies outside the copter

)
like i mentioned to you before...i had a chance to see the PC version of the new one that is coming out while at the ComicCon in T.O. awhile back...i will be buying it for sure..looks brilliant
hopefully we will get together real soon and play Battlefield and some b-ball online...looking forward to it

Its been 2 days of checking out my PS3.
the free internet feature is great. Been downloading lots of demos.
Just tried Clive Barker's Jericho Demo its pretty neat. They say PS3 should last 10 years considering thats how powerful it is. I hope its true because 10 years is pretty long and that would save the PS3 players a lot of money from buying next gen consoles every couple of years.
NBA Live 08 is fantastic. I dont even need to set the whole sliders to make it realistic, maybe just the game speed by a tad and 1-5 sliders to balance it out. I just set the time to 12 min per quarter and the game pretty much balances out all the way through till the end of 4th quarter.
I dled 2k8 demo. It was pretty sweet too. Gameplay wise it great. The only thing that kinda downgrading are the graphics, but its still good though. Physic wise in terms of how player moves/animation its better by Live 08 just by a tad also.
The extra features in the PS3 are pretty useful, with the wireless internet that the PS3 has it can detect my comp's "My Music" to "My Videos" folder and I can open those files up from PS3.
PS3 is friggin heavy btw.

I have not tried out Portal yet, but it looks amazing, and from what I heard it is downright fun, full of brain teasers, that you wish was longer than it is.
That being said, if you have never played Half-Life 2 then this orange box is a steal of a deal. I'm currently playing through it again before I tackle EP1 and EP2 and Portal and if I get to it, Team Fortress. All these games got amazing rankings (all 90-100), and all of them are available in one package. If you like FPS then this is a must have package, especially if you have never played Half-Life 2, because then it is even more of a deal since it is all new to you.
