For future notice, anyone thinking it is a good idea to pre-order a game online at BestBuy, I'm still waiting on COD4 and AC.

Personally, I find NBA Live extremely boring... even though i love playing Bball. It just gets tiresome once you play it for a while.

Playing Online is great though, especially shooters like halo, MOH etc, I love owning guys around the world

Just my thoughts.

Despite the critics saying what they did, Assassin's Creed is a ton of fun. I have been playing for about 4 hours now, have so much fun it is to run around stabbing people in the throat, and still have soo much game left to play, seriously, at the very least everyone must rent this game because it is fun as hell at this point.

I do, actually! I knew you were still a fellow Nintendo fan! Haha.
I still need to get my online working..its being a bugger. It's probably good online, but otherwise its sooo disappointing (no dynasty mode, editing players, creating players, etc)

Ya I've always bought NBA Live for it's online play. Other then online play I play season mode and that's about it, not much else unless you have a few friends over and have a dunk competition or 3-point shootout.

Anyways let me know when you get it up and running. tongue.gif

agreed..having a lot of fun playing this game....took awhile to get used to the pace ( slower due to stealth of character ) but once i adjusted i found myself really enjoying it
the look of this game is incredible...sounds of cities are excellent and the A.I. of the extras are at least decent.....if i find i'm getting a little impatient with the stealth aspect of the game i just go on a killing spree and then run around the city trying to find cover ( a lot of fun )
my Fav part of the game though is the climbing and running around on rooftops throughout the city...the possibilities are endless
oh and i love the "swan dives" after climbing up to the viewpoints worthy.gif

i highly recommend this game for at least a rental

Does anyone know if NBA Live for Wii has roster updates? I know Madden 08 for Wii does but I've been waiting for one for NBA Live for a while now. I want Jamario Moon! tongue.gif

Got my PS3 today with Motorstorm and Madden NFL 07 (both came free). Looking to get NBA Live 08 or NBA 2K8 this weekend (both were sold out).

It took me long minutes to beat Slash at Expert Mode on Guitar Hero 3. Glad that was over.

It was fun though.

well i took out Assassins Creed the other day because i wanted to get into Mass Effect..let me sum this game up in one word....WOW !
i did find that you have to be patient as far as the learning curve goes for this game....it was a bit confusing at first but after a few hrs of playing i have the system down to a tee now...and what a system it is....the possibilites with this game are virtually endless...you can spend countless hrs exploring worlds that have nothing to do with the main story line ( it reminds me a lot of Oblivion in that regard )
my only complaint would be that ocasionally the graphics look flat..the sound is excellent and the voice over acting is excellent
i'd guess that there is at least 40 hrs of pt with this game....and even then you could go back and find something else to do....it is truly Massive

highly recommend

I just finished the game just now, and I am a little disappointed with the ending. Safe to say there is going to be a Assassin's Creed 2, I think there was things I missed along the way within the main story part, because it seemed to leave me there wondering 'is this really it?' and there is a good chance it wasn't. Safe to say that you need to explore everything you can when you are able to in special small sections (you'll know what i mean if you play it at all). Gameplay is amazing, fighting is fun but the true value and fun of this game lies within climbing buildings and jumping at, and stabbing, people in the throat.

As far as length and scope, Shadow I think you overestimated slightly. This game took me about 20-25 hours, and I did most of everything within the towns (only thing left for me to do is find all the flags). Also, I think your comparison to Oblivion is way off. The towns are ginormous yes, but there is only 3 of them (besides you barely played in and searched hometown), Oblivion certainly takes the cake by a far margin when it comes to scale.

Once again, after having completed it, I still recommend that everyone at least rent the game, if only to play for a little bit to see the free roaming you can do, and to get the thrill of stabbing a whole bunch of people in the neck.

I give it a 8.5/10, would have been a 9, if not for the ending. When someone else completes this game, PM me so that we can compare finishes, because I want to know if i missed anything.

Next up for me as well will be Mass Effect, and this game is going to last me a month for sure. I can't wait.

EDIT: I read a bit online and now can officially confirm I missed something for sure in the short special parts of the game. Make sure you search everything you can every time, because 25 hours is a long time to play again to do it right.

Last clarification, if you a see a pen, pick it up, and don't rest until you do.

just checked website and it looks as if both are being sold seperately for $59.99....but there could be an in-store sale i guess

I bought them both for 89.99 so can absolutely guarantee that the sale WAS on at Bestbuy (not at futureshop). I can also confirm that the deal seems to be over, since it is not on the site anymore, but it was earlier when I was looking at it.

i think its an uh oh...

well my 360 was working great, but yesterday when i popped in halo 2, after the beginning cut scene the whole screen went a light blue.. i checked the console.. no red lights. i turned it off, and started it up again.. 3 red lights.. i almost cryed.

so i unplugged and plugged back in the power cords, av cables etc... and it worked again, then the damn screen went to the blue thing again. no red lights when i checked, turned it off, turned it back on again, 3 freaking red lights.

i don't think its anything wrong with the console, but with the power brick or AV cables, am i right or wrong on this assumption?

edit 6:54pm: BAH!!!!!?!?!?!??! now when i put in gears of war, the screen froze. turned it off and started it up again, RED RING! restarted.. RED RING!

i went back in the thread to confirm that you bought your's thru Ebay...which you did, so i'm going to assume you ended up buying an older version that didn't have the new 65 nanometer processor....this is more than likely the reason you got the red lights
now i'm not sure how Microsoft will deal with a buyer who has bought from Ebay (did you get the warranty with it ??? ) but i can tell you from personal experience that their customer service is EXCELLENT....call the customer service # and they will send you a "coffin" for your console...from there you will be given an address to send it to...i can almost guarantee you will be playing again within 10-14 days
when i had my problems they went out of their way to make sure everything was taken care of..and don't be surprised if you end up receiving a complimentary game when you get your console back
TheGreatBrownOne
yeah the person who i was talking to said they made a new processor in september ; jacked. i'm getting a brand new 360, i don't mind waiting. can't get enough of playing the new zelda game i got for DS. i can wait 15 days

thankfully i still had some warranty left on , so its free of charge for me biggrin.gif

Review: Wii Zapper a great accessory for the price

(CNET.com) -- If you grew up with a Nintendo Entertainment System in your house, then you no doubt remember the Zapper, the gray (or bright orange) light gun that let you shoot at ducks, bull's-eyes, and banditos. After almost 20 years, Nintendo has brought the Zapper, at least in name, to the Nintendo Wii. It's available in stores today for just $20, and it includes a free game, Link's Crossbow Training.

Instead of a light gun, the Wii Zapper is a simple gun-shaped plastic shell that houses the Wii remote and nunchuk attachment for use in certain shooting games. Simple, curved, and white, the Zapper fits perfectly with the Wii's aesthetic. Despite its vague gun shape -- it loosely resembles a Capone-era Thompson submachine gun) -- the Zapper's profile is nowhere near as menacing as the original Zapper's. Frankly, it looks more like an abstract sculpture than a gun, all rounded and white with nary a sharp angle to be seen.

Underneath the curved, matte-white shell is a simple and comfortable device with few moving parts and no electronics. The Wii remote slides into an indentation in the top of the Zapper and clicks in place securely. The nunchuk attachment slides into a smaller notch on the back of the Zapper and stays in place thanks to two small plastic pegs. Once both devices are locked into the Zapper, you can keep the cord between them wound up and hidden thanks to a compartment inside the handle. This cord-winding and tucking will keep your Zapper nice and neat, but inserting and removing the corded nunchuk is a pain--you'll probably want to invest another $20 in a dedicated nunchuk that will remain permanently housed in the Zapper.

With both the Wiimote and nunchuk in place, the Zapper feels a bit more solid and comfortable. Your front hand has access to the trigger that sets off the Wiimote's B button, while your back hand has total control over the nunchuk. Even though it doesn't look like a gun, the Zapper at least feels a bit like one. Hold it in both hands, point the "barrel" at the screen, and let the Wii pointer do the rest.

You could simply hold the Wiimote in one hand, the nunchuk in the other, and play any Wii game as you normally would. But it's all about the ergonomics. While the Zapper doesn't add any meaningful or unique features to the Wii's control system, it provides a near-ideal grip for shooting games -- the Zapper simply feels better than holding the remote and nunchuk normally. It doesn't offer quite the same experience as a genuine light gun, since you're still constrained by the Wiimote's sensors, but it still makes those games feel much more intuitive than the typical Zapper-less remote/nunchuk control scheme.

Or at least it does while you're aiming and shooting; moving around (with the nunchuk's thumbstick) adds something of an ambidextrous challenge to games that takes a bit of getting used to, and may be downright frustrating for some. Judging from the Zapper-centric games in the pipeline (Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, and Ghost Squad are all available now, and a retooled House of the Dead is on the slate for 2008), publishers are focusing on "rail shooters" -- games that have you automatically progressing through a level on a preset path. That lets you concentrate on aiming and blasting, not on moving around.

Even if you don't want those new titles, the Wii Zapper justifies its $20 price tag with its pack-in game, Link's Crossbow Training. This simple, Zelda-themed shooting gallery game would have easily been worth $20 alone, without the Zapper. It's not the largest or most complicated game for the Wii, but it offers enough fun and variety to satisfy both casual gamers and Nintendo fanboys. You play the ubiquitous elf Link, who got his hands on a crossbow after almost two decades of using a bow and arrow. Coincidentally enough, Link's crossbow looks very similar to the Wii Zapper.

You can run through nine levels, each with three separate stages, to test your marksmanship. Besides the typical shoot-the-bull's-eye on-rails experience, Link's Crossbow Training includes modes where you must fend off hordes of skeletons advancing upon you, shoot your way through a goblin camp, and even plink flying skulls out of the sky in a stage that feels more than a little like the original Duck Hunt's skeet-shooting mode. It's not a very deep game, but it's simple and fun -- a recipe for success on the Wii.

The Wii Zapper doesn't quite live up to its formidable pedigree and probably won't burn itself into gamers' memories like its predecessor. Still, the Zapper is a fun little gadget with a great pack-in game that justifies its scant price tag. It might not be a must-buy accessory/game for the Wii, but it'll give you more than enough fun for the Jackson you'll drop on it.

finally got around to renting Call Of Duty 4 the other day...this was voted as being the #1 game of 2007 at a few websites
i can't disagree with the fact that it was in the top 5 for the year but i can't say i like it better than BioShock or Halo 3

my biggest beef with the game is the fact that the campaign is so short...very intense with a great story..but too short for my liking
the multiplayer is very good but lacking in a few key areas imho....maps are too small and you are limited to using your feet ( no trucks, tanks, copters etc etc )

imho "Battlefield 2:Modern Combat" still blows this game away when it comes to multiplayer....and Modern Combat was released way back in "05"
DVS
Btw Shadow I played with the zapper and its not too bad ... Of course it comes with some cheezy demo game but u get the picture.

Ok As a non Gamer I played a few at friends houses doing the old post xmas gathering cause ppl are too busy during xmas.

1. Guitar Hero 3 - I haven't played 1 and 2 but I loved this game. Calling it Legends of Rock really made me feel old since I grew up with half the songs ( GNR, RATM etc etc ). Great game for a party and playing with friends but honestly couldn't see me playing this game by myself.

2. ROCKSTAR - this game is exactly like GH3 only comes with drums and a mic. Fun when you have a ton of people around and do some band wars competition. Again its nice with a crowd by never would by it

3. Prince of Persia - I played Sands of Time and Warrior Within and played this one I never played before. I forgot the name but again its classic POP and if u like the POP style of game you'll like this

Bought the Wii for the kids(well that's what I told the wife) for Christmas. Whole family is enjoying it a lot. Mario Galaxy is a great game. Another game we enjoy is Geometry Wars which is just as advertised -- intense.
I've played Mario and Sonic at the Olympics and it's a good party game as are the usual ones that you get with it and buy to get the other controller.

Next for me is Medal of Honor though I need to scoop a new wireless router first.

so not only is the router good ....their customer service is excellent as well

happened to notice that a certain game i've been waiting for has finally posted an official release date

i've mentioned the "old" game many times in this thread...Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
the new one....Battlefield: Bad Company will be released June 23rd and will be available for the 360 and PS3...the old one is by far the best game i've ever played online and they are saying the new one will be even better
the thing i find most intriguing is the fact that you can now blow up everything clapping.gif

Anyone else looking forward to the release of GTA IV? I got an email today from Amazon saying it will be released on the 22nd. I like that there are a lot of multiplayer options including cops n' robbers which should be pretty fun. Also Rockstar has kept one game quite and hasn't released any information about it. My guess is that it will have something to do with hookers.

lol when I buy this game I will only have 3 game in total and Halo3 and GTA IV will be two of them. Right now I'm just too addicted to the online matchmaking in Halo3. I still haven't even come close to finishing the campaign.

Just read a review on GTA IV on IGN.com. Was skeptical of this game, wasn't huge into the last one, never finished it, but this review really blew me away. The game sounds amazing, no other way to say it. They made everythign about the game better. Anything you thought was a slight problem in earlier games is now fixed and working how it should or made better. I would quote some of the article, but the thing is 7 pages long, and all of it contains interesting information that there is no point but to just give you a link, tell you to read it yourself, and mention that the game got the first 10 on IGN.com since Soul Caliber in 1999. That's 8 years without a perfect 10, until this game. I've been sold on it.

the game looks outstanding
scully19
One of the main reasons I wasn't into the last one is that the world was TOO big and wide open. Most of the map was just taking up space and it took forever to actually get anywhere and do something that i just got bored with it as i got further into it. In this game they said the map is not as large, but more compact, so more buildings are there to enter in a smaller area. That is something that really sparked my interest in thus game. If it doesn't feel like you have to drive 5 minutes to do anything this game will be very good.

Well you gotta do research for that lol

But I can tell you that Xbox 360 will have more games than PS3.

If FPS shooting game is your best friend, so is Xbox360

Great online gaming.

Then the bad things are like ring of death and pay for online gaming though its not that expensive. And you can call Microsoft for the ring of death situation they can replace you a new one right a way.

PS3 is pretty much like a computer with the contents that are being featured within the console. Bluray, transferring files/movies from your comp to the PS3

Free online gaming

If you like RPG japanese games like Final Fantasy etc, im pretty sure Sony PS3 will work out for you.

Bad stuff is they are taking a while to get games.

They are generally both good. With pros and cons. But yea, research a bit check out what both can offer interms of gaming and the services.

The xbox ring of death numbers have gone down. If you get a recent build one (the numbers will be on the box, look for one built on or after aug 22, 2007) then you will have little if any problems.

really the way I see it, the games right now are better on the xbox 360, but the PS3 is getting better games now so that isn't as huge a deal as it was before, and most are getting the same games on both consoles anyways. Xbox has better online play without a doubt, but you do need to pay a little a month for it (like 5 bucks a month). If you want a free HD movie player, and have a HD TV then PS3 is the place to go. If you want a better online experience with your friends (if you got some with xbox) then you would wnat to get that. I personally hate the PS3 controllers, and the xbox ones are awesome, so that's a plus for me on that side.

Have you played any games yet on any console? Look at the exclusives for games on each system now and in the near future and see if that will affect your choice.

Looking at IGN's top rated games,
GTA IV - available for both
Bioshock - Xbox 360
Halo 3 - Xbox 360
Call of Duty - Both
Mass Effect - Xbox 360
Rock Band - Both
Gears of War - Xbox 360
Rainbow Six Vegas - both
Guitar Hero II - both
Elder Scrolls Oblivion - both
Ghost Recon - Xbox 360
Ghost Recon 2 - both
FEAR - both
Virtua Fighter 5 - both
Skate - both
SC - Double Agent - both
Prey - Xbox 360
Guitar Hero III - both
NHL 08 - both
Forza Motorsport - Xbox 360

I didn't even go there thinking it was like this...but every single top game you can currently get is available on the Xbox, while only some are currently on the PS3.

Maybe that will convince you, it just convinced me that i made the right choice.

agreed....software is the key....360 is still way ahead as far as choice of games
the PS3 is an excellent system....in fact you could nit-pik either way when it comes to graphics etc etc....but when looking thru my old eyes i have to say they are pretty much even
for me it comes down to games and online play....PS3 is starting to put together a better library of games but is still far behind the 360.....as far as the online play goes there is no comparison ( 360 by a landslide )...yes it costs a bit of money but imho well worth it
and have to agree with you on the controller issue scully....i can't stand the Playstation controller ( way too small )...the 360 is much more suited to my hand size

The Ps3 controller's are small, clunky, cheap, outdated, uncomfortable, stiff, whatever the opposite of smooth and sleek is (unsmooth and unsleek? tongue.gif). I played a PS3 game once with a game that is on both, it is terrible. They tried to be innovative, went too far, so they got scared away and went back to the usual, the only change made to it aesthetically was the back two buttons are trigger like, but they are rounded the wrong way and your fingers slide off of the button. I can't stand it. My friends are the same way, bought a PS3 for cheap, hated it and sold it to their brother.

Like i said, I had no idea about the differential because I haven't followed PS3 since I don't have one, but wow, they have nothing original worth having, everygame you most likely want to play you can play on xbox, and if the game has online play then you can play it better on the 360.

I like the versatility of the Xbox. I have it hooked up to Media Center so it can be a PVR. I'm not sure if PS3 can even hook up to your computer to use things like music, Messenger etc. The only thing I was debating was the Blue Ray drive in PS3 but it looks like Microsoft is in negotiations with Blue Ray to get an external drive like that had with HD-DVD. Also like Scully mentioned there are very few games that only come out exclusively to PS3.

I have a PS3, personally my choice is the PS3 considering it comes with the blue ray drive, a blue ray player would cost you $600 bucks anyhow so it's a wash for me. USB ports for USB compatible devices, you can hook up your camera or video recorder to the PS3 and store your media on it. Bluetooth devices are also compatible as well. the controller is the sixaxis controller, works like the wii controller, and now available is the new dualshock controller with the sixaxis on the same controller.
Online play is free and the playstation network is getting better everyday, A new service which should be up anytime soon is the new playstation home which is a virtual reality community based service on the playstation network again for free. You can interact with peeps, walk around and explore online and play games and have your own room where peeps can visit and such.
As far as the games go, yes the 360 has more games but playstation will catch up in content when the game makers catch up, remember the 360 came out a full year before the playstation.
The playstation hasn't had the hickups the xbox has encountered such as the infamous red ring of death, which seemed to appear on owners screens when their xbox's decided to crap out, my playstation is on everyday for the most part almost eight hours a day and I've owned it for over a year, no problems. My fave game is Call of Duty 4, the new map pack is out by the way, four new maps creek is my favorite, Oh yah, another good online game is warhawk which is exclusive to the playstation 3, probably the biggest online game out there, kind of like halo, my handle is Astraeus, maybe I'll catch you online.
